What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy helps in relieving pain, improving the body's movement and function, maintaining cardiopulmonary   function, restoring, prolonging, sustaining and promoting optimal physical function; limits   disabilities resulting from injury or disease.

Do I have a choice where and from whom am I to receive physical therapy?

You as a human being, always have a choice! Same thing goes for having a choice in selecting your physical therapist. Currently, New York is a Direct Access State, which means that you may receive physical therapy services from a NYS licensed physical therapist with more than 3 years of experience for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first, without a prescription from a physician. Medicare requires a prescription for the first visit, though.

What does the Initial Evaluation involve?

Physical therapist takes your health and social history, observes your posture and movement, evaluates your injury, and develops a plan of care. This process is called an evaluation. Depending on the stage of your healing you may receive partial or complete physical therapy treatment on the first visit in addition to the initial evaluation.

How much time does the Initial Evaluation take?

The initial evaluation takes between 60-90 minutes.

How much time shall I allow for each subsequent visit?

You should prepare yourself to receive treatments ranging between 45-75 minutes.

Will I be seen by the same therapist for the duration of my treatment?

You will be evaluated and treated by the same therapist from the first to the last day of your treatment.

How often will I need to receive Physical Therapy?

Usually the treatment plan is established at 1-2 x per week. Please be assured, that the frequency of treatments will be tailored specifically to your needs.

What kind of insurance do you accept?

We accept Medicare and supplementary insurance as well as private pay.

What is the cost per visit for self-pay clients? Can I still be seen without insurance?

Yes, you can be seen without insurance and count on to receive the same highest standard of care.

The initial evaluation cost is $100 and subsequent visit $90.

Do you provide treatment at home for those who are unable to travel?

Absolutely, but only to the pediatric population at this time. We pride ourselves in creating a home atmosphere at our office for our patients. In case, when they cannot travel or simply prefer to receive physical therapy at home for other reasons, we come to them with the tools and equipment to provide highest quality of care.

What do I need to bring with me to my first visit?

First of all, wear loose and comfortable clothing, which will allow easy access to the areas of your body in need of physical therapy treatment. If you are a Medicare patient please don't forget to bring with you a prescription written by your doctor requesting physical therapy for you.
